Welcome to the world of Colour
My littlest sis is having a birthday this weekend, Happy Birthday! I can’t believe it is that time of year already. But here is what I am working on for her present, Endpaper Mittens. These are going to be great in the HUGE snow storm that they are having right now, they are snowed in as I type. These mittens are working up quite nicely and I will leave it at that ( I don’t want to jinx myself).

I was slightly confused with the whole left hand carrying the yarn thing for a while. And my left index finger may have lost circulation for a few minutes at the mercy of finishing the row. But I am getting a little quicker as I go. Updates to come and the first mitten is finished, hopefully this evening.

Field Trip to Knitochet
This afternoon the ladies at the office and I took a short field trip to the LYS Knitochet. We had a great time feeling this yarn and that yarn. JoAnne and I found the most wonderful colorway from Mountain Colors Bearfoot. I have knit some socks with this yarn before as a gift and loved them so much that I almost didn’t want to give them away. But, of course I did give them to my mother-in-law and I assume that she is enjoying them. Jessica also showed this great book to me, 2-at-a-time socks, there are some great patterns in here and the book is spiral bound so that it will lay flay when you are knitting! How great is that!? Here is a picture of our great finds. The Mountain Colors is called Wilderness, I am excited to start on the Sugar Maple pattern with this Bearfoot yarn.
On a wonderful husband note, when I got home these were waiting for me and the husband announced that he would be making dinner and had bought a nice bottle of Three Legged Red. I think this has something to do with the fact that he is leaving on Sunday for two weeks, not sure though.

Trying out Cables
Working on a new project, loosely based on Elizabeth Zimmerman’s February Sweater, that has cables. I have been wanting to try some cables and I thought a baby sweater would be a great first small project. I chose the cables from a book that I got for Christmas (thanks Mara!) Holiday Knits, the cables were in a glove pattern. The cable is a simple pattern that I think is a right size for a baby sweater, I didn’t want it to be overwhelming. The rest of the body is a simple stockinette .
I am excited at how this is turning out and how quickly it is knitting up.

I am in love with Firefox
So, this quarter I am taking an online class that requires me to use Blackboard. Which is all great and good, but I ran into some problems with Internet Explorer 7 and Blackboard. Mainly I couldn’t write in text boxes, which is important because that is how you turn in assignments. Long story short, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and quickly fell in love. The main feature that I love is that there is spell check whenever you type! Which for me is HUGE! Also Ravelry and Flickr seem to work better, but I am not sure if this is just my imagination. Very well could be.
In puppy news, Hunter has decided that he no longer wants to get into his crate at night to go to sleep. This has been very upsetting because he usually just climbs right in and goes to sleep, but we have been having to bribe him as well and slightly push him to go to bed. So after much thought and deliberation the husband and I have decided that the boys (as we fondly refer to them) are old enough to sleep in the laundry room. With a child gate across the door, of course, so that they can’t get out but still get heat. Hunter is now a very happy puppy, as you can see by how he is already curled up on his new bed. But, Mac was a little confused as to where I was telling him to go to bed. He was running all over the place as if to say “Here? Do you want me here? How about here? Look I am in my crate! How about on your bed mom? WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO GO?” (Mac is part lab and part poodle and slightly spastic)
They are both settled down nicely in their new bedroom now and hopefully sleep well.

Knitting away
I have been knitting along, listening to my book on tape, and have finished my MIL second socks in two days! I am so excited! I know that it really isn’t that big of a deal, but I see it more as a mile stone. Just a few months ago I was so frustrated with turning the heal of Jason’s socks that it took me three days just to get that done. The pattern was lovely to follow and easy to memorize the repeat. I was able to knit it while watching the Seahawks game yesterday (so frustrating, I almost threw my knitting at more than one point in the game)
The other project that I have been working on is a baby sweater for a co-worker, the baby isn’t due until April but I wanted to make sure it got done. With school and work these days I can’t be too careful
The pattern in from Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Knitter’s Almanac . I am loving this pattern, I just need to finish the sleeves. The yarn is almost a teal color, perfect for a spring baby girl!

2008 Update
The new year is in full swing and that means my yearly attempt to stay organized, this year I have recruited the help of a new calendar (that has dogs on it!), a notebook to make lists in, and my PDA phone. I am a list making fool, and I have been making quite the dent in actually completely everything on my list each day for the last few weeks. I am going to do it this year and keep my sanity!
In a knitting update, I have finished one of the socks for my Mother-in-law and have started on the second in addition to a baby sweater for another co-worker (there must be something in the water).
MIL Sock:
I will finish the second sock by the end of the week, I can study and knit at the same time. It is going on the list! Oh, the pattern is Jaywalker, the yarn is Mountain Colors Bearfoot and of course they are being knit on Addi circulars size 2.
