Camping in the Rain
Heidi, Matt and I went camping this weekend for an Air-soft tournament/game. Well Heidi and I went camping for the sake of camping and Matt went for the Air-soft. This is something that I must learn living in my new climate, it rains here. And it rains here quite a bit, quite often. This does not change when one wants to camp and to get out of the city for a bit. But, we had a good time and enjoyed the warm breakfast at the little cafe on the way home. Here are some things that one must remember when they are camping on the Western side of the state (the rainy side).

Rain Boots (Heidi and I bought these on separate occasions in different states)

Tent with good rain fly and a rain cover to sit under if it rains.
And I just thought this was funny, the paintball field that we were at had some facilities set up. One of them was some water for the fires, I assume that this was for the summer and not the spring when your campfire can go out just from the rain. But there were three barrels labeled “Fire Water”…funny in my mind.

Wildland Firefighter Monument
At lunch today I went to the Monument that is right across the parking lot from the training facility. I got chills when walking through the Monument and thought of all my friends and family that fight wildland fires and those that have lost their lives. Sorry the pictures are big, but I thought they could be experienced better this way.

Spring is peaking through
On my walk home from the bus yesterday I saw some new growth starting to come up in the neighbors garden. I was so excited, I took a picture with my phone so please excuse the poor quality.
Of course on the news this morning they were talking about the possibility of snow in the mountains this weekend and the begining of next week. Which will be great when I head to Boise, ID on Monday morning. I do love the snow so I am pretty excited to be able to see it at least one more time before spring actually shows up.

Clouds, some knitting and pasta
The clouds over Portland today were amazing from the office. Every time I went to the printer they had some new shape. I finally remembered that I had my camera in my bag…here is one of the lovely views.
This weekend I was able to make it to Abundant Yarn (the LYS just across the bridge from me) to ask them about the dog attacked sweater. They said that yes it was fixable! So I went to a drop in class on Sunday and learned the technique that I will be using to fix it, I have to say that the staff at Abundant Yarn are so helpful! So I have two rows re-created but there are still quite a few left to go, I have been working on this for as long as I can and then go back to Clapotis that I am working on. The mending will take a lot longer than the time it took the dog to chew the hole, but I am very glad that I am learning how to fix such things!
Today I got a new toy for my kitchen adventures. I have been looking at a pasta roller for quite some time and found this one on Craigslist for a great price! It was quite the adventure for me to make pasta from scratch…especially since I am already a messy cook.
