Saturday Market on Sunday
I made it to the Saturday Market on Sunday this week. There was a painting that has been stuck in my head for the last few weeks since I went to the market the last time. I think that it will be perfect in my kitchen, and I just keep going back to this painting. The painting was still there and I visited it again, and am still thinking about it. It seems that I am being a little indecisive about this piece of art. Saturday Market is a very interesting place, it is not like anything that I have ever been to before. I was trying to think of something to compare the Market to and nothing was coming to mind. The amount of creativity that is there is amazing, so many people who can create some amazing things with their hands and their imagination. This vendor that I took a picture of looked to me like he should be on the streets of Paris with his cart full of prints. I am not sure if this was because of the colors that he chose or if it was the bike.
That is Skidmore Fountain in the background of the photo, a Portland landmark that has an interesting history. If you look on Wikipedia it says that on the dedication of the fountain in 1888 the Weinhards offered to pump beer into the fountain. And of course since it was on the Internet then it is true
Ok, I really don’t know how true that statement is, but it would be an interesting idea to have a beer fountain in the middle of what is now Saturday Market.
