Day after tomorrow!

Posted in Travel at 2:18 pm by shawnitalea

First, I would like to thank all of the soldiers that have or are serving our country on this sunny Memorial Day here in the Pacific Northwest.  Our armed forces have given so much to our country and I am grateful each and every day for them.

I have been spending this amazingly sunny day indoors trying to get everything in line for my upcoming trip to visit Anna and Stephen.  I am so excited! I fly out Wednesday morning and get to Manchester on Thursday morning.  I was looking through some of my boxes to find a picture of Anna and I from back in the day, but I couldn’t find one.  Darn! Oh well, we will have plenty from this trip!

9 days!

Posted in City Adventures at 7:01 pm by shawnitalea

9 days and I will be on plane on my way to England! Just saying…I am excited.  Anna has some great times planned for us…it will be a great week!

This last Friday Heidi and I went to a great restaurant that we have been trying to get to for the last month.  It is called Screen Door (45th and East Burnside).  The service was great and the food was amazing as well.  They serve Southern Comfort food and that it is.  Heidi had fried chicken, mashed potatoes and collard greens while I had jambalaya.  The weather was just right so we could sit outside on the patio.  If you get a chance you should try it.

Saturday at the Oregon Coast

Posted in The Great Outdoors at 10:00 pm by shawnitalea

This weekend was a beautiful sunny break in the Pacific Northwest. We took this rare break in the rain to escape to the Oregon coast to go for a quick 5 mile hike. Heidi and I went to the Cape Falcon to a trail that we had found in the book 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles of Portland by Paul Gerald. The trail was a little muddy in a few places but the views were amazing. The trail comes out to the point of Cape Falcon, where the wind was blowing like crazy.  It was a great time spent with a great friend.  We are planning on trying more hikes from this book, it would be great to get them all done this summer.  But, we will see what our time and schedules allow.  :)
